Did Scar Mufasa eat the Lion King?!

As you can see on TikTok above, this theory looks at the original ’90s animation the king lion Movie – and one particular scene. Late in the second act of the movie, Pride Rock is captured by Scar (Jeremy Irons) with his gang of hyenas, and King’s advisor Mufasa Zazu (Rowan Atkinson) is trapped inside the ribcage of skeletal remains, singing for Scar’s amusement. Scar sings with Zazu sometime while making a skull brace during the ode that some coconuts are “as big as your head.”

Fans like TikTok user (and soccer player) Tweet embed It can help to ask two important questions:

  1. What does a skull scar play with?
  2. What happened to Mufasa’s body after the stampede?

Make some TikTok long short: It turns out that Disney animators have definitely sneaked a skull in there that looks amazingly similar to the shape of lion skulls. As it turns out, the only real animals that will eat lions are… lions.

The scar had a role in arranging what happened to Mufasa – surely it was his social prerogative to have Mufasa’s body dragged to Pride Rock to be eaten. For more thought, the scene begins with Zazu singing the tune “Nobody Knows the Problem I Saw” – which suddenly hits quite differently if you think about that theory.

Disney animators and/or filmmakers have a long history of sneaking some pretty wild things into their animation work – there’s plenty of evidence to suggest this is one of them. At the time of writing, TikTok has nearly 5 million views – with hundreds of thousands of comments – mostly from people whose childhoods and/or psyches have been shattered by just the idea that this might be true.

Mufasa: The Lion King It arrives in cinemas July 5, 2024. The animated and live-action Lion King movies air on Disney+.
